During the inspection, Licensing Specialist observed the carpet is shredding at the exit door of the 2-year-old classroom. The director was given until August 23, 2024, to come into compliance with this standard. During the inspection, Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, CCF Handbook Section 3.1 A.- General Health and Safety Requirements. A. All child care facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Any problems must be corrected before the play area is used by children. Documentation of the indoor play area inspection must be maintained for 12 months

23-02 · Fire Drills
Licensing Specialist observed an annual fire inspection conducted on 7/24/2024 with violations found. The director was given until August 23rd, 2024 to come into compliance with this standard as the Fire Department will be back out to reinspect 8/23/2024. During the inspection, Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, CCF Handbook 3.8.2 Fire Safety Unless statutorily exempted, all childcare facilities must conform to state standards adopted by the State Fire Marshal, Chapter 69A-36, F.A.C., Uniform Standards for Life Safety and Fire Prevention in Child Care Facilities. A copy of the current and approved annual fire inspection report completed by a certified fire inspector must be on file with the licensing authority. If the program is granted a fire inspection exemption by the local fire inspection office, the exemption must be documented and maintained on file at the program

During the inspection, Licensing Specialist observed on the playground the climbing jungle gym had a loose stepping stone. The director was given until August 7th,2024 to come into compliance with this standard. During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance. CCF Handbook Section 3.12 Outdoor Equipment B, All playground equipment must be securely anchored, unless portable or stationary by design, in good repair, maintained in safe and sanitary condition, and placed to ensure safe use by the children. Maintenance must include inspections conducted every month of all supports above and below the ground and of all connectors and moving parts. Licensing Specialist observed that the facility did not conduct a fire drill for the months of February and March 2024. "3.8.4, A. During the facilitys license year, fire drills utilizing the alarm system, approved by the local fire authority, must be conducted monthly at various dates and times when children are in care." The staff in charge will be able to conduct a fire drill by May 4, 2024. Licensing Specialist will return after this date to conduct a fire drill. The last fire drill was conducted on January 25, 2024. The fire extinguishers are certified through April 2025

Licensing Specialist observed that there were broken and hazardous blinds in the VPK room next to the exterior door, the three-year-old classroom, the two-year-old classroom on the far right, and the middle main room in the back left corner. The blinds had sharp edges where they were broken in multiple places and sticking out and strings and cords that were mangled and within reach of the children. "3.1 General Health and Safety Requirements A. All child care facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Strangulation hazards, strings, and cords long enough to encircle a childs neck such as those on toys and window coverings must not be accessible to children in care. ..." Licensing Specialist observed that a television was not mounted for stability. "3.11 Indoor Equipment Equipment, materials, furnishings, and play areas should be sturdy, safe, and in good repair. Provider should monitor the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recommendations for use of equipment. Walls, ceilings, floors, furnishings, equipment, toys, and other surfaces should be suitable to the location and the users. They should be maintained in good repair, free from visible soil and clean. Equipment and furnishings must be arranged to allow direct supervision of children by child care personnel from all areas within a room/play area. Bookshelves, televisions, and other heavy furnishings must be stable and secured as to not pose a threat of falling over. In efforts to prevent children from climbing to dangerous heights or enabling them to reach hazardous items, chairs and other furnishings must be placed away from cabinets and shelves. The program should make accommodations to the program environment and schedule so that children with special needs may participate." Child Care Regulation observed that one teacher did not have an employment history verification on file. "5.1, D. The employer/owner/operator must conduct employment history checks, including documented attempts to contact each employer that employed the individual within the preceding five years, and documentation of the findings. Documentation must include the applicants job title and description of his/her regular duties, confirmation of employment dates, and level of job performance. The employer/owner/operator must make at least three attempts to obtain employment history information.
