23-05 · Fire Drills
During the time of inspection, the fire extinguishers were expired. The director states the fire safety team is scheduled to come this week to service the extinguishers. The Child Care Facility Handbook states: 3.8.2 Fire Safety A. Unless statutorily exempted, all child care facilities must conform to state standards adopted by the State Fire Marshal, Chapter 69A- 36, F.A.C., Uniform Standards for Life Safety and Fire Prevention in Child Care Facilities. A copy of the current and approved annual fire inspection report completed by a certified fire inspector must be on file with the licensing authority. If the program is granted a fire inspection exemption by the local fire inspection office, the exemption must be documented and maintained on file at the program. B. Fire extinguishers with a minimum rating of 2A:10BC must be properly installed, serviced and maintained with current inspection tags at all times

24-17 · Food Preparation Area
During the inspection in the food preparation area, there was a plastic basket on the floor that had three sealed rice Krispie treats in it. The director picked the basket and placed it in an appropriate area, resolving the noncompliance. The Child Care Facility Handbook states: 3.9.2 Food Storage Proper storage of food is essential to prevent food contamination, as well as, insect and rodent infestation. Correct handling and storage of all food is a key component in preventing food-borne illnesses. To prevent bacteria growth, cold food must be kept at or below 41 degrees Fahrenheit and hot foods at or above 135 degrees Fahrenheit. Facilities choosing to prepare food must have a designated space for food storage within the designated food preparation area or in a room not calculated as part of indoor floor space, and in an area not used for diapering. Off-site food storage is permissible only if the site of storage is a licensed child care facility under the same ownership that includes a food preparation area that meets licensing standards. A. Food containers, such as cans, plastic containers, boxes and bags must be stored above the floor on clean surfaces protected from splash and other contamination

13-07 · Toxic Substances, Hazardous Materials and Weapons
During staff interviews one staff member admitted to vaping in the bathroom on occasion. Specialist reviewed the regulation with this staff person, and she understands that all vaping must occur off of the facility property. Director also posted in a visible place for both parents and staff that smoking and or vaping is prohibited on the premises. The Child Care Facility Handbook states on page 21: E. Pursuant to Chapter 386.204, F.S., smoking is prohibited within the child care facility and in vehicles when being used to transport children. Smoking is prohibited in all outdoor areas, including on field trips, while children are in care. Owners/operators are to notify custodial parents and legal guardians, in writing, that smoking, including e-cigarettes and vaping, is prohibited on the premises of the child care facility

24-09 · Food Preparation Area
Specialist observed a cutting board, a bottle scrubber, a squee, and sponge in the handwashing sink in the kitchen. A Rubbermaid container was teetering on the edge as well. The items were removed during inspection. The Child Care Facility states on page 30: 7. A separate handwashing station with hot running water, a minimum of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The handwashing station must include a sink with running water and drainage, soap, trash can, and disposable towels or hand-drying machines that are properly installed and maintained. A handwashing sink shall not be used for any purpose other than handwashing. Handwashing stations must include posted signs visible to child care personnel and children demonstrating proper handwashing technique. Portable sinks may not be used for dishwashing or food preparation. If a portable sink is used for handwashing in the food preparation area, hot water must be provided

Specialist observed several sealed Rubbermaid containers in the refrigerator with cut fruit and other items that did not have a date. Containers were dated during inspection. The Child Care Facility Handbook states on page 30: D. Opened packages of perishable or leftover food items must be properly covered or sealed in containers or bags, labeled with the date, and properly stored and discarded within seven calendar days

Under a sink in the 2 year old classroom had some hazardous materials stored. The materials were pine-sol, spic and span, grease cleaner, and two clear bottles of a liquid that were not labeled. The CCF Handbook states that all potentially harmful items, including cleaning supplies and hazardous materials, must be labeled and stored in a locked area or be out of the reach of the children

46-02 · Daily Attendance
Attendance was on sheet of paper with no time in and time out. Also attendance in the 2 year old classroom was not current. Teacher was crossing out names of children who had left and filling in children that had newly arrived. All attendance was corrected by staff during this inspection. The CCF Handbook states that daily attendance of children must be taken and recorded accurately by the child care personnel, documenting the time when each child enters and departs the program
