As they entered the building, they observed 18 children in the front room seated watching T.V. with three teachers. The ages of the children ranged from infants to four-year-olds. During a site visit on 9/12//2024, (ELC) found the program out of compliance for supervision. At the time of the Licensing Specialist (LS) visit on 9/16/2024, the center complied supervising the children in their care during the inspection. At the time of the inspection, the staff with the age 1-2 children had a classroom roster on the tablet that showed the room contained 3 children and there were 7 children present. 04-18 · Supervision
During the inspection, the (LS) learned five children in the age three classroom were being supervised by a new staff member who had not completed background screening. The staff member was waiting for the results of fingerprinting. The director resolved the issue by promptly sending the staff member home and redistributing the children into other classrooms. The (LS) explained to the director that staff must meet all the requirements in statue s. 435.06(2)(a) prior to any unsupervised contact with children. The staff member must have eligible results for fingerprints not still in process. Additionally explained that if the staff member had a provisional letter from background screening, they would still need to be supervised in the classroom until final clearance.
