A complaint allegation was received alleging that Six of the classrooms - The rooms between Room 7-17 on the west side of the building have experienced flooding inside the rooms with water coming from the ceiling into the classrooms the extent that they were rendered unusable and will require a period of construction and mold remediation to render usable. This began Tuesday, April 11, 2023 and was still happening as of Friday the same week. Most students are dropped off in a car-line and most parents do not enter the school so would not realize the risk to their children. I don't believe the remaining "Safe" classrooms are sufficient to house the currently enrolled students and believe the students coming to school may be at risk. A complaint inspection was conducted on 4/18/2023 and a statement from the school director was received for compliance. Per the school director, the classroom most affected was classroom number 17 which is what is reflected on one of the complainant's photos. There were no children in the room when the ceiling tiles collapsed to the ground. and the classroom has not been used as a classroom for more than a year. The room has been used to store equipment/ materials. The other classrooms affected were rooms 7,8,9,15, and 10. All the rooms along the west end of the school. The maintenance lead stated that the water scuppers on that side of the building were full of debris from the trees hanging over it and that is what caused the water to not run down the side of the building to the ground. Photos of the scupper were provided and per director, tree trimmers will be cutting the branches from the trees that hang over the building to prevent this from happening again. Plantation Building code employee was present during CCLE visit and he expressed no major concerns after his walkthrough of the facility. At the time of my inspection, there was no sign of flooding, the ceiling tiles were already picked up/removed, and the facility maintenance workers were actively working on repairing the ceiling tiles and walls that appeared to have gotten damaged due to the water leak inside the building. The affected rooms were not occupied by children. A walkthrough of the facility revealed that children had been moved to other rooms not affected by the water damage. The facility had sufficient space to house the children in other rooms as the school's enrollment is not at its capacity. The children from affected rooms were moved to the following rooms: Affected rooms --- New rooms 7 --- 16 8 --- 5 9 --- playroom, transition room not being used at this time. 15 --- 3 10 --- 11 This complaint is Substantiated for facility repairs required but unsubstantiated for flooding or signs of flooding
