10-01 · Toxic Substances, Hazardous Materials and Hazardous FDCH/LFCCH Handbook
During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed a battery pack, hand sanitizer, printer ink, adult scissors, Mucinex, Vicks, lotion, and Vaseline were on a desk which was accessible to the children in care. Hand sanitizer and lotion were on a low table accessible to the children in care. During the time of the inspection, this was resolved by the Operator removing all items to an area out of childrens reach. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, per the FDCH Handbook:A. All areas and surfaces accessible to children shall be free from toxic substances and hazardous materials/equipment/tools, including power tools, plastic bags, matches, candles, lighters, etc. These items, as well as knives, sharp tools, BB guns, pellet guns and other potentially dangerous hazards, shall either be stored and in a locked area or must be inaccessible and out of a childs reach. B. All potentially harmful items including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials must be labeled and used according to manufacturers recommendation. C. Narcotics, alcohol, or other impairing drugs/paraphernalia must be kept inaccessible to children at all times. D. Cleaning must not take place while rooms are occupied by children except for general clean-up activities that are part of the daily routine. General cleaning refers to cleaning necessary to maintain a sanitary environment but that does not pose a hazard to children, such as wiping the table after lunch, soaking toys in a tub on the countertop, sweeping. This does not include cleaning with hazardous materials or any cleaning which poses a risk of slipping or falling

During the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that the Family Day Care Homes Clearinghouse Employee/Contractor Roster was not current. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, per the FDCH Handbook: L. The employer/owner/operator must add substitutes, employees and household members to their Employee/Contractor Roster within ten days of when the individual has received a child care eligible result. Employer/owner/operator must add an end date within ten days of termination for individuals on the Employee/Contractor Roster in the Clearinghouse when employment terminates, or a household member is no longer residing in the home."

During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed a fence post on the outdoor play area was rotted, leaving sharp and jagged pieces of wood exposed to the children in care. During the time of the inspection, the Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, per the FDCH Handbook: All equipment, fences, and objects on the homes premises shall be free from sharp, broken and jagged edges and properly placed to prevent overcrowding or safety hazards in any one area."
