During the playground inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed the ladder to a plastic climbing structured was broken in several places. The ladder is no longer safe to use and is not repairable. The Licensing Specialist removed the ladder from the playground structure and placed it outside of the play area. The Provider and her son that was on the phone during the inspection process were informed of the removal of the ladder. The rest of the play structure can still be used safely. During the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed the children laying down for nap. There were two infants but only 1 crib. One of the infants was placed on a cot for naptime. The Licensing Specialist verified the child's age and informed the Provider that a crib or pack n play would be required until the child turned one. The Provider picked the child up during the inspection. This was explained to the Provider's son who was on the phone during the inspection, and he stated he would get another crib for the child. The Child Care Facility Handbook states on page 36: 7.8 Appropriate, Safe and Sanitary Bedding A. A home must include a designated area where each child can sit quietly or lie down to rest or nap. Each child in care must be provided safe and sanitary bedding to be used when napping or sleeping. Linens must be washed at least once a week and more often if soiled or dirty. All bedding and linens must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized at least once a week and before use by another child. Bedding and linens, when not in use, must be stored in a sanitary manner which prevents the spread of germs or lice from other linens. B. All personnel that care for infants must follow safe sleep practices as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) as referenced in Caring for Our Children Basics Health and Safety Foundations for Early Care and Education, which is incorporated by reference in 65C-22.001(7)(v), F.A.C. Licensing received an email from the Provider's son, stating that he will become the new substitute for the Provider. However, the substitute training has not been completed. The Provider's son will need to complete all training requirements as related to a substitute working less than 10 hours per month. When specialist arrived; children were napping on baby rocking seats. Specialist advised provider to put children on cots. Specialist also made mentioned that she had been cited for the same reason during the last inspection on 2/22/2024. Provider proceeded in explaining that the children refuse to sleep anywhere else except on the rocking seats. Specialist advised and suggested that the children needed to be trained to sleep on the cots or in bedding approved by DCF standards. Provider mentioned that parents were aware of the sleeping arrangements and have observed the difficulties of getting the children to sleep in proper bedding and are willing to get doctor notes allowing the use of these not approved for sleeping rocker chairs. Provider did not have any documentation for the goats and said she had just bought them the Saturday prior. In reviewing menus posted counselor noticed other foods that were not part of the menu on top of the stove. Counselor made mention of these foods and provider said she sometimes follows the menu but most of the time does not. Provider said parents bring in what the children eat for lunch, and she provides snacks and fruits. Provider was told to create a menu for snacks and fruits and decided she would not serve these items either. Provider told this counselor to remove that she was serving foods from the provider services and would tell parents that they are responsible for all meals and snacks. Provider will write up a note letting parents know she will no longer serve foods or snacks. 7.14 Food and Nutrition D. Daily meal and snack menus shall be maintained for a minimum of 12 months for licensing purposes.
