04-05 · Supervision
Staff member was laying down during nap time, while nap time was observed. She stated she was on break but appeared to be asleep. Staff member moved to the front area of chairs where she had clear sight of all children. PER DCF HANDBOOK: During nap time, child care personnel must be within sight and hearing of all the children. All other child care personnel required to meet the staff-to-child ratio must be within the building on the same floor and available to be summoned if needed to ensure the safety of the children. CORRECTIVE ACTION: Counselor approached teacher and stated she must have direct vision at all times, not having hood over face, in the instance a child needed assistance. Spoke with director to ensure staff understands nap time needs to be monitored. And came into compliance before the counselors left the room

33-07 · Training Requirements
Two child care personnel had not started their DCF training within the first ninety days of employment. PER DCF REQUIREMENTS: 4.1 Beginning Training Child care personnel including volunteers who work 10 hours or more per month must begin training within 90 days of employment in the child care industry and successfully complete Departments training within 12 months from the date training begins. Training taken prior to employment in the child care industry does not constitute begin training. The begin training timeframes begin at the time of employment in the child care industry. Training completion may not exceed 15 months from the date of employment in the child Child Care Facility Handbook Page | 40 care industry in any licensed Florida child care facility. This may be accomplished by classroom attendance in a department-approved training course, acquiring an educational exemption from a department-approved training course, beginning a department-approved online child care training course, or by receiving results from a department-approved competency examination. The child care program is responsible for obtaining training documentation from child care personnel. CORRECTIVE ACTION: All employees may not be alone in classroom with children until training has started. Emailed documentation of initial training must be sent to licensing counselor by 1/6/2025

PER DCF REGULATIONS: Prior to beginning volunteering in a child care facility, a CF-FSP 5217, Volunteer Acknowledgment which is incorporated by reference in 65C-22.001(7)(e), F.A.C., and may be obtained from the Departments website www.myflfamilies.com/childcare, must be completed and on file at the child care facility for the volunteer. Written documentation of volunteer hours must be maintained at the facility for a minimum of 12 months and available for review by the licensing authority. Counselor observed two playgrounds that had multiple gaps in the fence or gate. (Pictures on file). Provider stated that Lowe's Home Improvement installed the fence. Provider is wanting for Lowe's to return and fix the gaps. Provider stated Lowe's is not sure when they will fix the broken fence/gates. One playground has a broken gate and on the other side a missing gate. Advise Provider not to use that play area until it is in compliance with two functioning gates.
