During the inspection of the small refrigerator in the classroom, it was observed that the refrigerator was not working properly and standing water was observed on the bottom of the refrigerator. Water stains were observed around the outside of refrigerator on the floor where the water had previously leaked out. The refrigerator will need to be replaced or repaired. The Child Care Facility Handbook states on page 20 that: 3.1 General Health and Safety Requirements A. All child care facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Any problems must be corrected before the play area is used by children. Documentation of the indoor play area inspection must be maintained for 12 months. B. It is the responsibility of the director/operator to ensure all areas and equipment of the facility are free from fire hazards, such as lint build up in heating and air vents, filters, exhaust fans, ceiling fans, and dryer vents. This includes grease build-up in ovens, stoves and food equipment
