19-02 · Nap/Sleep Space Requirements
Two cots were touching, and other cots were within 5 or 6 inches of each other. Director and staff separated cots, so they were at least 18" between each. The Child Care Facility Handbook states: 3.6.2 Nap/Sleep Space A. Each child care program must include a designated area where each child can sit quietly or lie down to rest or nap. B. When not in use, napping space and indoor floor space may be used interchangeably as indoor floor space. C. A minimum of 18 inches must be maintained around individual napping and sleeping spaces. A maximum of two sides of a napping or sleeping space may be against a solid barrier, such as the wall. The solid side of a crib does not meet the requirements for a solid barrier. D. A fire hazard, (lint built up in the air filters, air filters not changed, vents dirty inside and outside with lint clinging to them), was observed in the facility. Director telephoned maintenance and stated they would have the filters changed and the areas cleaned by October 16, 2023. The Child Care Facility Handbook states: 3.1 General Health and Safety Requirements A. All childcare facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Any problems must be corrected before the play area is used by children. Documentation of the indoor play area inspection must be maintained for 12 months. B. It is the responsibility of the director/operator to ensure all areas and equipment of the facility are free from fire hazards, such as lint build up in heating and air vents, filters, exhaust fans, ceiling fans, and dryer vents. This includes grease build-up in ovens, stoves and food equipment

The facility's transportation logs did not include the signature of the person that did the second sweep of the vehicle. The Director stated that the second sweep of the bus is completed by her daily, she did not sign the form, but will from this point forward. The Child Care Facility Handbook states: 2.5.2 Transportation Log A. A log must be maintained for all children being transported in a vehicle or on foot away from and/or to the premises of the child care facility. The log must be retained on file at the facility for a minimum of 12 months and available for review by the licensing authority. The log must include: 1. Each childs name, 2. The date and time of departure, 3. Time of arrival at the destination, 4. The signature of the driver (or in the case of travelling on foot, the signature of the child care personnel), and 5. Two new employees did not have a completed Level 2 as there was no out-of-state screening completed at the time of hire. Director completed a rescreening during this monitoring, is awaiting a 45-day letter, and will not let either employee be unsupervised. The Child Care Facility Handbook states: 7.4.1 Background Screening Documents Background screening documentation must be maintained for all child care personnel as defined by Section 402.302(3), F.S., which includes household members if the facility is located in or adjacent to the home of the operator. Background screening documentation must be on-site and available for the licensing authority to review. A. Each personnel record must have a completed CF-FSP Form 5131, Background Screening and Personnel File Requirements, which is incorporated by reference in paragraph 65C-22.001(7)(b), F.A.C. B.
