Licensing specialist observed there were no attendance records to review in the three-year-old and VPK classrooms. Provider created a new attendance sheet and was allowed to fill it out at the time of inspection. Technical Assistance: Chapter 7.5 Daily Attendance Daily attendance of children must be taken and recorded accurately by the childcare personnel, documenting the time when each child enters and departs the program. Counselor observed that the facility did not have a current and approved fire safety inspection on file by the local fire authority. Per Section 3.8.2 Fire Safety in the Chilcare Facility Handbook A. Unless statutorily exempted, all child care facilities must conform to state standards adopted by the State Fire Marshal, Chapter 69A- 36, F.A.C., Uniform Standards for Life Safety and Fire Prevention in Child Care Facilities. 23-08 · Fire Drills
Counselor observed that the facility had a incomplete Fire drill record. Fire drills that were conducted for the months of January and February were not documented on the record. The last documented fire drill that was on file was conducted on 12/18/2023. Per Section 3.8.4 Fire Drills of the Childcare Facility Handbook: A. During the facilitys license year, fire drills utilizing the alarm system, approved by the local fire authority, must be conducted monthly at various dates and times when children are in care. Child Care Facility Handbook Page | 28 B. When the facilitys approved fire alarm alert system is activated or initiated, all adults and children must evacuate the facility. C. A current attendance record and parent contact information must accompany child care personnel out of the building during a drill or actual evacuation and be used to account for all children. The operator must maintain a written record of the fire drills showing the date, number of children and child care personnel in attendance, evacuation route used, and time taken for all individuals to evacuate the premises. Each fire drill record must be maintained for a minimum of 12 months from the date of the fire drill. The fire drills conducted must include, at a minimum: 1. One fire drill using an alternate evacuation route, 2. One fire drill during napping/sleeping times, and 3. One fire drill in the presence and at the request of the licensing authority. This drill will be coordinated with the operator or designee. Per Director the previous fire drill information was stored on their cellular device. Counselor observed 1 personnel staff who did not begin their introductory training within 90 days of employment. Provider registered personnel for the proper courses at the time of inspection. Personnel was relieved from their assigned classroom to begin working on the appropriate courses at the time of inspection. Per Section 4.2 Training Requirements in the Childcare Facility Handbook: 4.2.1 Mandated Introductory Training: Child care personnel must successfully complete 40 hours of child care training as evidenced by successful completion of competency examinations offered by the Department or its designated representative with a weighted score of 70 or better.
