During the inspection, Licensing Specialist observed in the following classrooms some items that were not in good repair: Middle room the following items: 1. the flooring leading into the kitchen area is peeling up 2. blue adult chair is ripping and exposing the cushion. Kitchen area: 1. cabinet door the bottom hinge is not connected 2. the corner of the counter top has peeled off leaving a sharp edge. 2 year old's: 1. rug by the back door is tearing(provider threw the rug away during the time of the inspection). 2. paint peeling under the panel box 3. black shelf is loose 3 year old's 1. hole in the wall by the small panel box VPK 1. tile broken in front of the back bathroom 2. hole in the wall in the first bathroom 3. paint peeling around the sink in the 1st bathroom 4. blue adult chair ripping exposing the cushion 5. sand box cover is ripped 6. the pretend grill in Housekeeping at the bottom it is cracked. Infant Room: 1. bottom of the cribs there are blue foam bumper that pieces are coming off. The director was given until March 7, 2025, to come into compliance with this standard. During the inspection, Licensing Specialist observed cords hanging down and or in the reach of the children in the following rooms infant, 2 year old's , 3 yr olds and the VPK classrooms. Infant room the cord to the caterpillar. 2 year old classroom the vacuum was out and exposing the cords. 3 year old classroom the vacuum was out exposing the cords and extension cord in the circle time area. The VPK classroom there was a cord to the scanner to the cash register, charging cord to the computer, the light table cord and extension cords by the door. The director was given until March 7, 2025, to come into compliance with this standard. 13-02 · Toxic Substances, Hazardous Materials and Weapons
During the inspection, Licensing Specialist observed Brillo pads, a plugged in conventional oven and can openers in a drawer in the kitchen that was not locked. The director brought this standard back in compliance by moving the items where the children could not reach them and unplugging a putting the cord behind the conventional oven at the time of inspection. During the inspection, Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, CCF Handbook Section 3.2 B Toxic/Hazardous Material/Firearms/Weapons. B. All potentially harmful items, including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials, must be labeled and used according to manufacturers recommendation. During the inspection, Licensing Specialist observed in the VPK classroom 3 cots that were ripped and shredding, in the 3 year old's classroom 1 cot that has a hole in the mesh and in the 2 year old classroom 1 cot was broken on the plastic leg (this was removed at the time of the inspection). The director was given until March 7, 2025, to come into compliance with this standard. During the inspection, Licensing Specialist observed the teacher put infant into a crib that the sheet was not tight fitting. The director brought this standard back in compliance by tightening up the sheet at the time of inspection. During the inspection, Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance, CCF Handbook, Section3.6.4, A Safe Sleep A. All personnel that care for infants must follow safe sleep practices as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) as referenced in Caring for Our Children Basics Health and Safety Foundations for Early Care and Education, which is incorporated by reference in 65C- 22.001(7)(v), F.A.C. Licensing Specialist observed, in the infant and one-year-old classroom, there were unrelated items stored in the diaper changing table. The items observed were sheets, bibs, and a sensory table item. "3.10.2 Diapering Requirements A. When children in diapers are in care, a hand-washing station that includes a sink with running water, soap, trash receptacle, and disposable towels or hand drying machines that are properly installed and maintained shall be provided in the room or in an adjoining area which opens into the room. B. Hands must be washed and dried thoroughly after each diapering or toileting procedure, and all surfaces that have been touched must be cleaned and sanitized or disinfected to prevent the spread of germs. C. Handwashing sinks must not be used for food service preparation, dishwashing, or food clean up. D. The diaper changing area must be physically separated from the food preparation, food service, and feeding area. E. When children in diapers are in care, there must be a diaper changing area with an impermeable surface that is cleaned and sanitized or disinfected after each use. F. Children must be directly attended at all times when being diapered or when changing clothes. Child care personnel must not leave children unattended on a table or countertop. A safety strap or harness must not be used on the diaper changing table/surface. G. Items unrelated to diaper changing shall not be stored in the diaper changing area nor shall they be placed on the diaper changing table. H. There must be a supply of clean diapers, clothing, and linens at all times. I. When diapers, clothing or linens that are being used become soiled or wet, they are to be changed immediately, and properly disposed. J. Soiled or wet disposable diapers must be disposed of in a plastic lined, securely covered container that is not accessible to the children. The container must be emptied, cleaned and sanitized or disinfected, at least, daily. K. Soiled cloth diapers must be emptied of feces in the toilet and soiled or wet cloth diapers shall be placed in a securely covered container that is not accessible to the children. The container must be emptied, cleaned and sanitized or disinfected, at least, daily. L. Diaper changing procedure must be posted in the changing area and followed to protect the health and safety of children and child care personnel." Licensing Specialist observed that two staff did not have documentation of training within 30 days of date of hire in the use of fire extinguishers. "4.2.5 Fire Extinguisher Training All child care personnel shall be trained in the use and operation of a fire extinguisher, at each facility they are employed, within 30 days of date of hire. Child Care Regulation observed that the sink in the bathroom on the left side of the building, in the back, near the exit, was separating from the wall (about 2/5ths of the way separated) and gives from the wall with a minimal amount of pressure, causing a moderate potential for harm to children in care. "3.1 General Health and Safety Requirements A. All child care facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Child Care Regulation observed that the toilet in the bathroom on the left side of the building, in the back, near the exit, was not clean and sanitized. "I. Each toilet and sink must be maintained in good operating condition, cleaned and sanitized or disinfected as needed, but at least once per day. Sinks utilized for teeth brushing activities/procedures by the children must be sanitized prior to the activity occurring."
