During the inspection the family service counselors observed three cribs at the facility used cribs that did not meet current federal guidelines for construction regulations as outlined in Title 16, Parts 1219,1220 & 1221 Code of Federal Regulations. Technical support that was given to the provider stated that children up to one year of age must be in a crib or playpen/play yard with sides for napping. Crib sides must be secured while there is an infant in the crib. Bar spacing must not exceed two and three-eighths inches. Cribs or playpen/play yards must meet the regulations as outlined in Title 16, Parts 1219, 1220 & 1221 Code of Federal Regulations, 2014, which is incorporated by reference in 65C22.001(7)(w), F.A.C

20-04 · Crib Requirements
FSC noted at the time of inspection a 7 month old baby was sleeping on its stomach. TA was given to the provider: ( When napping or sleeping, young infants who are not able to roll over must be positioned on their backs and on a firm surface to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, unless an alternate position is authorized by a physician. Sleep sacks that fit according to manufacturers recommendations, do not restrict the infants arms, and will not slide up around the infants face may be used for the comfort of the sleeping infant; however, swaddling shall not be used unless authorized in writing by the childs physician. Written documentation of a physicians authorization must be on file at the facility. Documentation must include the childs name, childs date of birth, description of sleep position required, instructions for the use of any equipment needed, and length of time authorization is valid).
