28-01 · Technical assistance per SACCF Handbook 4.2.1, "Child care personnel, including volunteers that work 10 hours or more per month, must successfully complete 40 hours of child care training as evidenced by successful completion of competency examinations offered by the Department its designated representative with a weighted score of 70 or better. A. Part I Courses (28 hours) School-Age child care personnel must complete all of the following: Child Care Facility Rules and Regulation (6 hours); Health, Safety, and Nutrition (8 hours); Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (4 hours); Understanding Developmentally Appropriate Practices (5 hours) School Age-Appropriate Practices (5 hours) B. Part II Courses (12 hours) The remaining 12 hours must be met by successfully completing one of the training options identified below: The Departments school-age specific training and the competency examination offered by the Department or its designated representative with a weighted score of 70 or better. Completion of specialized school-age training, provided by a vocational technical center, community college, college or university, national organization or affiliates of a national organization, that requires demonstration of competencies through passage of examination(s), or completion and assessment of a Professional Resource File (portfolio of materials that demonstrate competency). Certificates must be uploaded to the Florida Pathways (Registry). School-age child care personnel with successful completion of introductory child care training for child care personnel as defined in s.402.305 (2), F.S., are considered in compliance with the school-age child care personnel training requirements
