    23-08 · Fire Drills

    3.8.4 Fire Drills A. During the facilitys license year, fire drills utilizing the alarm system, approved by the local fire authority, must be conducted monthly at various dates and times when children are in care. Child Care Facility Handbook Page 12 1. When the facilitys approved fire alarm alert system is activated or initiated, all adults and children must evacuate the facility. 2. A current attendance record and parent contact information must accompany childcare personnel out of the building during a drill or actual evacuation and be used to account for all children. The operator must maintain a written record of the fire drills showing the date, number of children and childcare personnel in attendance, evacuation route used, and time taken for all individuals to evacuate the premises. Each fire drill record must be maintained for a minimum of 12 months from the date of the fire drill. The fire drills conducted must include, at a minimum: 1. One fire drill using an alternate evacuation route, 2. One fire drill during napping/sleeping times, and 3. One fire drill in the presence and at the request of the licensing authority. This drill will be coordinated with the operator or designee

    Licensing Specialist was looking at the fire inspection at the facility and noticed that the fire inspection was current but had one violation that needed to be corrected. TA was given to provider referencing the CCF Handbook. 3.8.2 Fire Safety A. Unless statutorily exempted, all childcare facilities must conform to state standards adopted by the State Fire Marshal, Chapter 69A-36, F.A.C., Uniform Standards for Life Safety and Fire Prevention in Child Care Facilities. A copy of the current and approved annual fire inspection report completed by a certified fire inspector must be on file with the licensing authority. If the program is granted a fire inspection exemption by the local fire inspection office, the exemption must be documented and maintained on file at the program
