19-02 · Technical assistance was provided advising the provider that Each child care program must include a designated area where each child can sit quietly or lie down to rest or nap. When not in use, napping space and indoor floor space may be used interchangeably as indoor floor space. A minimum of 18 inches must be maintained around individual napping and sleeping spaces. A maximum of two sides of a napping or sleeping space may be against a solid barrier, such as the wall. The solid side of a crib does not meet the requirements for a solid barrier. Napping and sleeping spaces must not be under furniture or against furniture that creates a hazard. Napping and sleeping areas must not be in exit areas. All exits must remain clear in accordance with fire safety requirements. The provider corrected this issue by separating the children in care to the minimum requirement needed for safe sleep distances
