The staff agreed she used physical discipline on a child. Staff was terminated immediately. The program owner self-reported the incident. Program strides to prevent this type of incidents from happening, a discipline policy is included in the employee handbook. Moreover, a poster stating steps to redirect child's behavior is posted on a bulletin board. The discipline policy is also posted by the entrance of the facility. Per the Child Care Facility Handbook Section 2.8 Child Discipline: A. The childcare facility shall adopt a discipline policy consistent with Section402.305(12), F.S., including standards that prohibit children from being subjected to discipline, which is severe, humiliating, frightening, or associated with food, rest, or toileting. Spanking or any other form of physical punishment is prohibited

While conducting the inspection the counselor observed one employee, LB, had not begun the introductory training. LB should have started the introductory training by 09/13/2022 and as of 02/15/2023 they have still not started the training. The counselor recommends LB start the introductory training and provide proof to the counselor. Please submit proof of starting the training to the counselor by 02/17/2023
