06-06 · Background Screening Requirements FDCH/LFCCH Handbook
During the routine inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that the provider did not have a current Background Screening (BGS) clearance for HHM. Documentation on file indicated that the providers Household Members (HHM) Background Screening (BG)S eligibility expired on January 25, 2026. The Licensing Specialist provided the following TA (Technical Assistance): Section 4.1 of the Florida Family Day Care Home/Large Family Child Care Home Handbook and section 402.313(3), Florida Statutes (F.S.) state that all childcare personnel, including the owner/operator, must complete background screening prior to employment and must be re-screened at least every five (5) years to maintain eligible status in the DCF Clearinghouse. Corrective Action Plan: The provider agreed to complete the required HHM Background Screening (BGS) re-screening within twenty- one (21) business days and will submit verification of updated Household Member (HHM) BGS eligibility to the Licensing Specialist via email upon completion. The provider acknowledged that, as the individual with current eligibility and all required documentation on file, she will remain responsible for the supervision of all currently enrolled children while the Household Members Background Screening (BGS) re-screening is pending. The provider further confirmed that the Household Member will not be present around enrolled children during operating hours until BGS eligibility has been re-established and verified through the DCF Clearinghouse. Additionally, the provider agreed to notify the Licensing Specialist via email prior to the enrollment of any additional children during this period. The provider confirmed that the BGS re-screening will be completed no later than May 13, 2026, to ensure compliance prior to the renewal inspection expiration date of May 24, 2026, and to support a timely and compliant renewal process. Additionally, the provider will update her contact information in the Florida Department of Children and Families Clearinghouse to include her current email address to ensure timely receipt of all future BGS renewal notifications and maintain ongoing compliance
