24-16 · Food Preparation Area
Licensing Specialist observed the Food Storage of Canned goods were placed directly on the floor in a closet like area of the Food Prep area. She immediately removed all the cans and had an assistant help store them above the floor as required. This was resolved at the time of inspection. Action Plan: Provider will ensure all canned goods are stored above the floor upon deliveries. 3.9.2 Food Storage Proper storage of food is essential to prevent food contamination, as well as insect and rodent infestation. Correct handling and storage of all food is a key component in preventing food-borne illnesses. To prevent bacteria growth, cold food must be kept at or below 41 degrees Fahrenheit and hot foods at or above 135 degrees Fahrenheit. Facilities choosing to prepare food must have a designated space for food storage within the designated food preparation area or in a room not calculated as part of indoor floor space, and in an area not used for diapering. Off-site food storage is permissible only if the site of storage is a licensed child care facility under the same ownership that includes a food preparation area that meets licensing standards. A. 30-14 · Diapering
Licensing Specialist entered the toddler 2's classroom and saw the Diaper Changing station was missing Diaper changing procedures was not posted in the changing area. This was resolved at the time of inspection when the provider made a copy of the Diapering Procedures Poster and post it near the Diaper changing station. 3.10.2 Diapering Requirements L. Diaper changing procedure must be posted in the changing area and followed to protect the health and safety of children and child care personnel

40-01 · Medication
Licensing Specialist asked the Infant room childcare personnel for any medications, ointments etc. She handed me 2 tubes of diaper ointment, Desitin and Balmex, and stated she bought them herself for the children. Licensing Specialist asked the childcare personnel for the authorization forms from the custodial parents or legal guardians. Childcare personnel did not have any forms. This was resolved when the provider discarded both ointments. Action Plan: Director will ensure the parents fill out an authorization form from the custodial parent before administering any medications. 6.5 Medication Child care programs are not required to give medication; however, if a program chooses to do so, it must comply with the following requirements: A. The child care program must have written authorization from the custodial parent or legal guardian to give prescription and non-prescription medications. This authorization must be dated and signed by the custodial parent or legal guardian and contain the childs name; the name of the medication to be given; and date, time and amount of the correct dosage to be given. Prescription and non- prescription medications that are used on an as needed basis require the parent/ legal guardian to provide additional documentation on the authorization form to describe symptoms that would require the medication to be given. The child care provider must never administer a medication that is prescribed for one child to another child. K. Use of diaper creams and insect repellant may only be utilized with written permission from parents/guardians. Manufacturer instructions must be followed
