06-06 · Background Screening Requirements FDCH/LFCCH Handbook
During the routine inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed that the provider did not have a current Background Screening (BGS) clearance. The providers BGS expired on 08/28/2025; therefore, this standard was not in compliance. Noncompliance The provider failed to maintain a current, eligible Level 2 background screening as required. No active BGS eligibility was on file at the time of inspection. The Licensing Specialist provided the following Technical Assistance (TA): The Background Screening Clearinghouse issues automated reminders 60, 30, and 21 days prior to the retention date expiration for individuals listed on the facility/home roster. The provider was advised to keep the Clearinghouse roster current to ensure accurate notifications and to prevent confusion regarding expiration dates. The provider currently has no enrolled children. The provider was advised that an active, eligible BGS is required prior to enrolling any children into care at the Family Day Care Home (FDCH). The provider agreed to notify the Licensing Specialist via email upon enrollment of any children. Family Day Care Home Rule Handbook, Section 2.3.4 Background Screening Requirements. All operators, substitutes, household members (age 12 and older), and other persons regularly present in a Family Day Care Home must be screened pursuant to 402.305(2) (a) and 435.04, F.S. Childcare personnel and household members 18 years of age or older must be re-screened every five (5) years. Documentation of eligibility through the DCF Clearinghouse must be maintained on site and available for review. Individuals without an eligible determination may not provide care or be regularly present when children are in care. Corrective Action The provider agreed to complete the required Background Screening (BGS) re-screening within 30 business days and will email the updated BGS eligibility verification to the Licensing Specialist upon completion. The provider currently has no enrolled children and acknowledged that no children will be enrolled or cared for until the BGS process is completed and an eligible determination is confirmed. The provider agreed to notify the Licensing Specialist via email once any children are enrolled. The BGS re-screening will be completed no later than November 14, 2025
