45-02 · Background Screening Documents

LS observed two staff members background screening clearance letters that did not have an "eligible" status for DCF Child Care during inspection. LS observed one staff member with child care industry start date of 10/31/2022 and employment date at facility of 9/3/2024 that had a status of agency review required for DCF Child Care. LS observed a second staff member with child care industry start date of 3/8/2010 and with employment date at facility of 9/3/2024. The second staff member had a background screening clearance letter eligibility status as of 2/23/2022, however the staff member had left the child care industry on 5/31/2024 and did not return until 9/3/2024. LS gave technical assistance during inspection from the Child Care Handbook: 7.4.1 Background Screening Documents Background screening documentation must be maintained for all child care personnel as defined by Section 402.302(3), F.S., which includes household members if the facility is located in or adjacent to the home of the operator. Background screening documentation must be on-site and available for the licensing authority to review. C. A copy of the eligible results, for the Level 2 screening, generated from the Clearinghouse must be on record for each personnel. If awaiting Out-of-State criminal history results, a copy of the DCF email informing of the individuals eligibility for a provisional hire status must be in the personnel file. Corrective Action: Provider initiated an agency review for one staff member & initiated a resubmission for the second staff member during inspection. Therefore, standard was completed at time of inspection
