Upon entering the childcare facility licensing counselor observed the teacher in the one-year-old classroom asleep. The Provider called the teacher's name to awaken her. The Provider stated, prior to opening the door for the licensing counselor she was in the one-year-old classroom with the teacher, and she provided direct supervision and met the ratio requirement. The Provider will ensure childcare personnel are providing direct supervision while in ratio. Per DCF Handbook: Direct supervision means actively watching and directing childrens activities within the same room or designated outdoor play area, during transportation, any activity outside of the facility, and responding to the needs of each child while in care
