During the inspection, the Licensing Specialist observed seven staff member who had completed the DCF training did not complete additional DEL School Readiness trainings. The facility was given 14 days to complete the requirement per the School Readiness handbook. The Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance from the School Readiness handbook Section 3.2.Aa and 3.2.C 2. For children 2 years of age or older, but under 3 years of age, there must be one child care personnel for every 11 children. 4. Provided technical assistance from the handbook Section4.2.3 Safe Sleep/ Shaken Baby Syndrome Training All child care personnel who work in a facility that offers care to infants must have training regarding guidance on safe sleep practices, preventing shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma; recognition of signs and symptoms of shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma; strategies for coping with crying, fussing, or distraught child and the development and vulnerabilities of the brain in infancy in early childhood within 30 days of hire at the facility. At the time of the inspection, the counselor observed that dangerous items including multiple Lysol containers and a RID lice remover kit were in an unlocked areas in the lunchroom accessible to children. At the time of the inspection the counselor observed the green climbing ladder for the climbing structure had a bolt that rusted out at the top of the ladder on the left hand side. The missing bolt allowed the ladder to be lifted on one side and a moveable gap at the top. Pictures taken. Provided technical assistance from the handbook 3.12 B. All playground equipment must be securely anchored, unless portable or stationary by design, in good repair, maintained in safe and sanitary condition, and placed to ensure safe use by the children. 46-07 · Daily Attendance
At the time of the inspection the attendance roster for the group of 29 Age 4-5 children gathered at mealtime was either not present or incorrect. The teacher for the group with 14 children did not have the attendance roster present and the attendance roster for the other group showed 11 children when 15 were present. The issue was resolved at time of inspection when the rosters were corrected for both groups of Age 4-5 children. Provided Technical Assistance to the provider from the handbook Section 7.5 A.A. Attendance devices used for the purposes of tracking attendance may be used, but personnel must ensure the accuracy of the documented attendance.
