    All child care facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Any problems must be corrected before the play area is used by children. Documentation of the indoor play area inspection must be maintained for 12 months. There area areas of peeling paint and damaged area around the walls in the VPK, 3 and 4 year old class. As well in the the 2 year old class wall and doors are visible dirty (Pictures were taken). TA was giving to the director by the LS explaining that this areas need repair and repainting

    All potentially harmful items, including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials, must be labeled and used according to manufacturers recommendation. These items, as well as knives, sharp tools, and other potentially dangerous hazards, must be stored in a locked area or must be inaccessible and out of a childs reach at all times. Licensing specialist observed hand sanitizer and hydrogen peroxide (labeled keep out of reach of children), on a shelve within the reach of children (Picture was taken). Technical Assistance (TA) was given to the director explaining that this items must be inaccessible and out of a childs reach at all times . Items were removed, placing this standard back in compliance

    18-12 · Bedding and Linens

    Bedding and linens, when not in use, must be stored in a sanitary manner which prevents the spread of germs or lice from other linens. All bedding and linens must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized at least once a week, and before use by another child. In the VPK and 3 and 4-year-old room, the blankets were all folded up and stacked one on top of the other and stored that way (Pictures were taken). Please come up with a different plan for linen storage, one in which they do not touch while being stored. LS gave TA to the director explaining that when not in use, linens and bedding must be stored in a sanitary manner which prevents the spread of germs or lice from other linens

    Pursuant to Section 402.305(2)(e)5., F.S., all child care personnel must complete a single course of training in early literacy and language development of children ages birth through five years that is a minimum of five clock hours or .5 CEUs. Early literacy training must be completed within 12 months of date of employment in the child care industry. Proof of completion may be documented on a certificate of course completion, classroom transcript, or diploma. Child care personnel must complete one of the following: A. One of the Departments online literacy courses available on the Departments website. B. One of the Departments approved literacy courses. A list of these courses can be obtained from the Departments website. (No additional courses will be approved by the Department.) C. One college level early literacy course (for credit or non-credit) if taken within the last five years. The staff responsible removed the items during this inspection visit, placing this standard back in compliance

    Child care personnel must successfully complete 40 hours of child care training as evidenced by successful completion of competency examinations offered by the Department or its designated representative with a weighted score of 70 or better. Child care personnel who successfully completed the mandatory 40-hour Introductory Child Care Training prior to January 1, 2004 are not required to fulfill the competency examination requirement. A.     33-03 · Training Requirements

    Child care personnel including volunteers who work 10 hours or more per month must begin training within 90 days of employment in the child care industry and successfully complete Departments training within 12 months from the date training begins. Training taken prior to employment in the child care industry does not constitute begin training. The begin training timeframes begin at the time of employment in the child care industry. Training completion may not exceed 15 months from the date of employment in the child care industry in any licensed Florida child care facility. This may be accomplished by classroom attendance in a Department-approved training course, acquiring an educational exemption from a Department-approved training course, beginning a Department-approved online child care training course, or by receiving results from a Department-approved competency examination. The child care program is responsible for obtaining training documentation from child care personnel.     Bottles and sippy cups brought from home shall be individually labeled with the childs first and last name and shall be returned to the custodial parent or legal guardian daily. In the infant, CCRC observed sippy cups brought from home were not labeled or only had a first name (Pictures were taken). The staff person and director were educated by the licensing counselor on the requirement for last and first names on cups and bottles brought from home.     Records must be maintained and kept current on all child care personnel, as defined by Section 402.302(3), F.S. These records shall be on-site, available for review by the licensing authority and must include: A. A complete employment application with the required statement pursuant to Section 402.3055(1)(b), F.S. B. Documentation of position and date of employment. C. CF-FSP Form 5337, Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Requirements, which is incorporated by reference in 65C-22.001(7)(l), F.A.C., must be signed on or before hire date and annually thereafter by all child care personnel. D. Copies of training information and credentials as applicable. E. For the driver only: Florida drivers license and driver physical examination documentation. A copy of the drivers license and the physician certification, or another form containing the same elements of the physician certification, granting medical approval to operate the vehicle, and valid certificate(s) of course completion for first aid training, pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures, and background screening must also be maintained in the drivers personnel file. F. Prior to beginning volunteering in a child care facility, a CF-FSP 5217, Volunteer Acknowledgment which is incorporated by reference in 65C-22.001(7)(e), F.A.C., and may be obtained from the Departments website www.myflfamilies.com/childcare, must be completed and on file at the child care facility for the volunteer. Written documentation of volunteer hours must be maintained at the facility for a minimum of 12 months and available for review by the licensing authority. Director stated that she had taken employee files home to review and she had not brought them back. CCRC gave TA to the director and explained that records must be available for review by the licensing authority at all times
