04-01 · Technical assistance was provided regarding crib positioning, and the allowance of blankets in the crib. Specialist observed that the cribs were touching, they advised that even if infants weren't inside the cribs, to reposition the ones that were in use to be in more visible positions to better supervise the children. At time of inspection, licensing specialist spoke with the lead teacher in the classroom and director about adjustments that could be made to prevent future issues
Specialist observed in the infant classroom two personnel with eight infants. Two infants were in highchairs being fed, two infants in cribs sleeping, one infant held by a personnel, the others on the floor. One personnel were seated holding an infant, the other was moving between the kitchenette and the infants in highchairs feeding them. The infant room's kitchenette is separated with a half wall and the crib area is separated with a half wall as well. One of the infants sleeping had managed to position themselves with their legs hanging out of the crib. The other infant sleeping had a blanket in their crib. Two other cribs were observed to have a blanket, but no infants inside of them. Specialist asked the personnel if the infant with the blanket twelve months was over, and the personnel confirmed they were not. Inadequate supervision was observed by infant being able to roll into an unsafe position. Child Care Facility Handbook defines direct supervision, Direct supervision means actively watching and directing childrens activities within the same room or designated outdoor play area, during transportation, any activity outside of the facility, and responding to the needs of each child while in care
