Specialist observed that one staff member had not started a DCF course within the 90 day timeframe. Staff member started in the industry on 4/26/2024. Staff member had completed all School Readiness requirements on time. The Child Care Facility Handbook states on page 39: 4.1 Beginning Training Child care personnel including volunteers who work 10 hours or more per month must begin training within 90 days of employment in the child care industry and successfully complete Departments training within 12 months from the date training begins. Training taken prior to employment in the child care industry does not constitute begin training. The begin training timeframes begin at the time of employment in the child care industry. Training completion may not exceed 15 months from the date of employment in the child care industry in any licensed Florida child care facility. This may be accomplished by classroom attendance in a Department-approved training course, acquiring an educational exemption from a Department-approved training course, beginning a Department-approved online child care training course, or by receiving results from a Department-approved competency examination. The child care program is responsible for obtaining training documentation from child care personnel

The facility was recently painted. A large paint scraper, cans of paint, and a roller pan with hardened paint that children could pick off and put in there mouths was available in the tub in a bathroom accessible to the children. In a children's bathroom there were several spray cans of disinfectant and sanitizing spray as well as containers of disinfectant wipes. These harmful items were removed from the shelf that was accessible to the children and placed on a higher shelf. The 3 sand boxes on the playground have heavy wooden covers that can drop on little fingers. This is very dangerous for the children. Covers will be taken off the sand boxes before children are in care each day. Covers were removed in the presence of this counselor during this inspection. The CCF Handbook states that play equipment must be safe for the children in care

The staff member mentioned on the attached supplemental form did not have a clearinghouse background screening available for review during this inspection. Director stated that the BGS request has been submitted but has not returned as eligible.
