The vape pen was dropped in the classroom and was picked up by a child and a puff was drawn, a second child picked the pen up and held it to their mouth. The staff member carried a vape pen in her pocket into a one year old room. The pen was dropped and found by a child which inhaled the contents of the vape pen causing the child distress. The parent was informed and took the child for medical evaluation. Please ensure that staff are aware of potentially harmful items that are brought into the center either in a purse or on person and the need to keep such locked up and out of the reach of children.
