LS provided TA to the director and staff responsible reminding them that an accurate alcohol thermometer designed to measure cold storage temperature must be placed inside each refrigeration and freezer unit. Thermometers in refrigerators must show a reading of 41 degrees Fahrenheit or below, and thermometers in freezers must show a reading of 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. Licensing Specialist (LS) observed that a bottle of infant formula was not discarded after feeding. LS spoke to the teacher and director and the teacher explained that because the child had not finished all the formula, they were saving it to give to the infant after naptime. LS provided technical assistance to the director and staff explaining that all infant formula left in bottles after feedings must be discarded within one hour after serving an infant. Unused breastmilk may be returned to the parent in the bottle or container provided. The formula was discarded at time of inspection, placing this standard back in compliance

For life threatening injuries, the provider shall call 911 and then notify the parent. According to the incident report that was provided to the CCRC on 8/18/2023, the parent was notified first and then EMS was contacted. Prior to administering medication to children, child care personnel responsible for administering medication must be educated on proper administration procedures. Written documentation must be maintained in the personnel file that child care personnel administering medication have been educated on proper administration procedures. Nap bedding is not required for school-age children; however, the program must provide an area for children that choose to rest. Floor mats must be at least one inch thick, and covered with an impermeable surface that is cleaned and sanitized or disinfected after each use.
