32-01 · Outdoor Equipment
During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed a stationary five-seater bicycle on the toddler playground which is not age/developmentally appropriate for one- and two-year-old children. The Director advised Licensing Specialist that the bicycle will be removed. CCF Handbook, section 3.12 Outdoor Equipment A. A child care facility must provide and maintain enough usable equipment suitable to each childs age and development and of a quantity for each to be involved in activities

32-06 · Outdoor Equipment
During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed that the ground covering (green turf) was still present on the toddler playground. The ground covering is not resilient enough under the swing set to prevent injuries from children falling. Licensing Specialist observed that the swings were removed but the swing set/structure was still there. Director advised Licensing Specialist that the Owner will be putting down rubber mulch, which will be delivered June 24th through June 30th, 2024, and will need an additional day for installation. Licensing Specialist observed that the two small plastic slides had been removed Licensing Specialist is giving additional time for delivery and installation of ground covering. CCF Handbook, section 3.12 Outdoor Equipment D. Permanent or stationary playground equipment must have a fall/use zone that extends a minimum of 6 feet in all directions from the perimeter of the equipment. All types of ground cover must be maintained to provide resilience and reduce the incidence of injuries to children in the event of falls. 1. If the ground cover in place is loose ground cover (such as, but not limited to: mulch, shredded rubber chips, or sand) a minimum of 6 inches in depth is required in the use zone. Asphalt, concrete, hard packed dirt, hay, grass or leaves are unsuitable for use in the use zone area. 2. If the ground cover in place is a unitary playground surface, then the unitary surfacing materials must be installed, maintained, or replaced according to manufacturers instructions. Unitary surfaces must be tested to and comply with ASTM F1292; documentation of test data must be retained at the facility and available for licensing to review

During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed that the mulch on the School Age and VPK playground measured 6 inches in depth. Licensing Specialist observed that the green turf from a previous inspection was still in use, but large thick brown mats were placed under the swings on the toddler playground. Licensing Specialist observed the mats to be hard and not resilient enough to protect children from falls. Licensing Specialist also observed that the brown mats put in place did not extend 6 feet in all directions from the perimeter of the swings. Director advised that the Owner is going to remove swings on 5/9/25, to bring this standard back into compliance. CCF Handbook 3.12 Outdoor Equipment D. During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed: 1. The door, the handwashing sinks backsplash and the AC unit in the VPK classroom had been repaired. 2. The window had been repaired in the After School classroom. 3. The gap had been closed under the outdoor bathrooms and the particle boards above the bathrooms had been repaired. 4. The wood tree house on the VPK playground had been removed. 5. The electrical cord had been removed out of the ground by the swings and the two stakes were also removed on the after-school playground. The nails had been removed out of the 3rd post under the shaded area of the after-school playground. 6. The shade cover located on the toddler playground had been repaired and no longer showed signs of water damage. 7. The hole in the wall of the 2-year-old bathroom had been repaired. During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed that the ceiling and walls in the bathroom of the Afterschool class was still peeling and not in good repair. Licensing Specialist observed that the 6-inch gap in the gate between the two buildings where the water hose is located was still there. CCF Handbook, section 3.1 General Health and Safety Requirements A. All child care facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Any problems must be corrected before the play area is used by children. Documentation of the indoor play area inspection must be maintained for 12 months

During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed that the door in the VPK classroom was broken/cracked. Licensing Specialist observed that the backsplash on the handwashing sink had water damage and was not in good repair. Licensing Specialist observed peeling paint on the ceilings and walls in the bathroom of the After Schoolers classroom. The window on the door in the bathroom which leads outside was cracked. Licensing Specialist observed a large gap under the outdoor bathrooms and the particle boards (ceiling) above the bathrooms had water damage. Licensing Specialist observed peeling paint, several broken panels and a nail protruding from the wooden tree house in the VPK play area. Licensing Specialist observed a 6-inch gap in the gate between the two buildings where the water hose is located. Licensing Specialist observed an electrical cord protruding out of the ground by the swings on the after schoolers playground. Two stakes (small poles) were protruding from the corner where the swings are located. Licensing Specialist observed nails protruding out of the 3rd post under the shaded area of the after schoolers playground. The kick panel of the post was broken and rusted. Licensing Specialist observed water damage on the right-hand corner of the shade cover located on the 1- and 2-year-old outdoor area. Licensing Specialist observed a hole in the wall in the two-year-old bathroom. Licensing Specialist observed water leaking from the A/C vent in the VPK classroom causing the floor to be wet and slippery. CCF Handbook, section 3.1 General Health and Safety Requirements A. All child care facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. During the time of inspection, Licensing Specialist observed cleaning supply being stored in an unlocked cabinet which was accessible to the children in the one-year-old classroom. Licensing Specialist observed Director remove all cleaning supply out of reach of children. Licensing Specialist observed a bucket with standing water with mop and cleaning supplies accessible to children in an unlocked closet. Licensing Specialist observed Director lock closet door. This standard was brought back into compliance during the time of inspection. CCF Handbook, section 3.2 Toxic/Hazardous Material/Firearms/Weapons A. All areas and surfaces accessible to children must be free from toxic substances, bio contaminants, and hazardous materials/equipment/tools, including power tools, plastic bags, matches, candles, lighters, etc. B. All potentially harmful items, including cleaning supplies, flammable products, poisonous, toxic, and hazardous materials, must be labeled and used according to manufacturers recommendation. These items, as well as knives, sharp tools, and other potentially dangerous hazards, must be stored in a locked area or must be inaccessible and out of a childs reach at all times
