At the time of the inspection, the facility has a petting zoo for the children during the summer camp season. The facility originally did not notify the Department in writing for the petting zoo, but technical assistance was provided. The inspector provided the assistant director with the licensing contact at DOH to send the required information requesting approval for the petting zoo. The assistant director completed the requested information and resolved the matter as DOH approved the petting zoo during the inspection. For future use of the petting zoo, the facility is aware to notify and request approval to DOH in writing prior. As per standards: Article X. Physical Facilities. A. General. #9 "Animals (excluding aquarium fish and hermit crabs) are prohibited on the premises. Special animal programs may be permitted upon prior approval of the Department pursuant to a written request."
