[19a-87b-10(d)(3)] · The provider shall maintain in the family child care home a written individual plan of care for each child with disabilities or special health care needs who requires special care be taken or provided while the child is at the family child care home. Such plan shall be developed with the child’s parent(s) and health care provider at intake, implemented and updated as necessary. Such plan shall include appropriate care of the child in the event of a medical or other emergency and shall be signed by the provider, parent(s) and any approved staff members responsible for the care of the child.

[19a-87b-17(b)(3)] · Except for nonprescription topical medications, no medication, prescription or nonprescription, shall be administered to a child without the written order of an authorized prescriber and the written permission of the child’s parent(s) which shall be on file at the family child care home. The medication shall be administered only in accordance with the written order of the authorized prescriber and shall not administer the first dose of any medication, except in an emergency.

[19a-87b-17(b)(5)] · Medication shall be stored in the original child-resistant safety container and appropriately labeled. Except for nonprescription topical medications and emergency medications, medication shall be stored in a locked area or a locked container, in a refrigerator in keeping with the label directions away from food and inaccessible to children and unauthorized personnel. Controlled medication shall be stored as required by statute. Emergency medications shall be stored in a safe manner, inaccessible to other children, to allow for quick access in an emergency.

[19a-87b-10(b)(2)] · The provider shall have a complete and current general health record on file when the child begins attending the family child care home, signed and dated by a physician, physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse. These records shall be returned to the parent when the child is withdrawn from the family child care home.

[19a-87b-9(d)(2)] · Fasteners for doors to cupboards, closets and rooms shall be designed so that it is impossible for a child to become locked in the enclosed area. Every room used for child care or capable of access by children, when provided with a door latch or lock, shall be of a type that children can open from the inside and each lock shall be designed to permit opening of the locked door from the outside in an emergency. The opening device shall be readily accessible to the provider and staff.
