The staff must identify hazardous, high-risk areas; those areas must be made inaccessible to children to reduce the possibility of injuries and accidents.
Observed outdoor play area. Observed a tall storage unit filled with landscaping equipment (rakes, shovels, pitchfork, etc) unlocked, open and accessible to children. Also observed a gap between the bottom of the north side playground gate to the ground measured approximately 5.5 inches. Another section of the playground fencing had a gap measuring approximately 5.5 inches between the bottom of fencing and ground. These gaps could be potential entrapment hazards. Correction: At the time of the inspection, a staff member reorganized the storage unit filled with landscaping equipment, making equipment inaccessible to children. Immediately ensure all outdoor play areas used for children's activities are checked daily and kept safe and free from hazards.
