2.337.D.2 · All outdoor play areas shall frequently be surveyed and must be kept safe and free from hazardous materials or debris that could cause harm to children.
During the walthrough of the outdoor play area the following items were observed: There were multiple broken shards of hard plastic laying on the ground in the outdoor play area next to the black storage box in the back yard. The broken plastic pieces were accessible to children when they are playing in the back yard. A metal stake that held a yard decoration or sign was broken and hat a jagged edge on the top and was located near the large tree in the front yard play area and could be accessible to children. An orange and black extenstion power cord was laying near the front steps to the home and within the front yard outdoor play area and is a tripping hazard. Correction: All outdoor play areas shall be frequently surveyed and must be kept safe and free from hazardous materials or debris that could cause harm to children. Correct immediately. The broken plastic pieces in the back yard and the metal stake in the front yard were removed from the play areas by the provider and are no longer accessible to children a response to these items is not required. A kitchen-size trash can was being utilized for leftover food during meal times and was located in the living room child care area where children eat meals. The trash can did not have a lid and was accessible to children at the time of inspection.
