2.138.A · Emergency drills, lockdown and active shooter on premises drills must be held at least quarterly but often enough so that all occupants are familiar with the drill procedure and their conduct during a drill is a matter of established routine. Fire drills must be held monthly and be consistent with local fire department procedures. Tornado drills must be held monthly from March to October. A record of all emergency drills held over the past twelve (12) months must be maintained by the facility or center, including date and time of drill, number of adults and children participating, and the amount of time taken to evacuate.
In a review of drill logs for the 2023/2024 school year it was observed that no information was documented for any emergency drills occuring from October 2023 through May 2024. Correction: Emergency drills including lockdown and active shooter, fire and tornado must be executed and documented according to the regulated timeframes and documentation of such drills must be maintained for 12 months including the date, time of drill, number of adults and children present, and amount of time taken to evacuate. Correct Immediately. Submit written statement to licensing specialist outlining a plan to ensure all emergency drills are executed and documented according to the rules and regulations.
