(1)Hot water temperature controls shall be maintained to automatically regulate temperature of hot water delivered to plumbing fixtures used by children to attain a hot water temperature of not less than 105 degrees F (40.5 degrees C) and not more than 120 degrees F (48.8 degrees C).

LPA observed staff placing tape over the handles for hot water. Facility had the city maintenance crew arrive quickly, who turned off the water making it inaccessible. LPA was able to confirm during today’s inspection that now the sinks accessible to children do not provide hot water. LPA also provided the facility with the 101239 Fixtures, Furniture, Equipment and Supplies regulations for reference. Based on observation, the facility did not comply with the section cited above, as LPA was able to confirm that multiple sinks that children were using for handwashing had hot water to the touch. Although supervision was being conducted with children washing hands, staff should also be able report when seeing something that could possibly pose a danger to a child in care.
