101229(a)(1) · 101229 Responsibility for Providing Care and Supervision (a)The licensee shall provide care and supervision as necessary to meet the children's needs. (1) No child(ren) shall be left without the supervision of a teacher at any time, except as specified in Sections 101216.2(e)(1) and 101230(c)(1). Supervision shall include visual observation.

Following the incident, the center’s owner and director met with all staff members, reviewed active supervision practices, and implemented a new transition protocol. Additionally, the staff member involved was reprimanded for their actions. The center will submit active supervision training materials, along with the sign-in attendance of the staff members who participated, to Licensing by April 30, 2025, or sooner to resolve the deficiency. Based on the interview and record review, the center did not comply with the section cited above. The staff did not provide sufficient supervision during the transition period, leaving C1 unattended in the center’s play yard for six minutes while the staff remained unaware. This situation poses a potential health and safety risk to the children in their care.
