Safety precautions shall include but not limited to: (9) Each family child care home shall have a written disaster plan of action prepared on a form approved by the Department. All children, age and ability permitting, and the provider, the assistant provider, and other members of the household, shall be instructed in their duties under the disaster plan. As their age and ability permit, newly enrolled children shall be informed promptly of their duties as required in the plan. 102417(a) · 102417 Operation of a Family Child Care Home (a) The licensee shall be present in the home and shall ensure that children in care are supervised at all times....Temporary absences shall not exceed 20 percent of the hours that the facility is providing care per day.
Per Licensee, she will ensure that children using a booster chair will be strapped and supervised at all times. LPA obtained a declaration LIC 855. Licensee left Child 1 (C1) in a booster seat unsupervised in one of the (2) bedrooms locatted downstairs; and did not ensure that C1 was secured by using the booster seat strap/belt. C1 was able to get out of the booster seat and hit their face which created a bruise on their cheek.

102417(d)(1) · 102417 Operation of a Family Child Care Home(d) The home shall provide safe toys, play equipment and materials. (1) Fixtures, furniture and equipment that have been banned or recalled by the United States Consumer Protection Safety Commission shall not be used for children in care or accessible to children in care. Per Licensee, she threw away the rocker. Licensee understands that recalled or prohibited items are not to be used in a licensed day care. LPA obtained a declaration LIC 855. LPA did not observe a rocker or bouncer during this inspection. Licensee admitted that she placed C1 in a recalled bouncer United States Consumer Protection Safety Commission which is also prohibited by the department to be used in a licensed care facility. Licensee stated that the bouncer may have caused C1 to suffer an ankle injury.
