Deficient Practice Statement Based on licensees own admission, an infant was placed in an off-limit bedroom of the home with the door closed. When the infant came out, the infant looked flushed and hair looked slightly damp. Licensee stated the infant had a fever, however, the infant was later observed to be okay. LPA discussed the requirement to fence or barricade stairs when there are children less than five years old in care. Licensee placed a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs during the visit. Based on observations, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above as they did not ensure stairs to the second floor were fenced or barricaded which poses a potential safety risk to children in care.
