101229(a)(1) · Responsibility for Providing Care and Supervision (a) The licensee shall provide care and supervision as necessary to meet the children's needs. (1) No child(ren) shall be left without the supervision of a teacher at any time. On November 1, 2023, Director, Lori Rogowski called into the Fresno South Regional Office to report an incident that occurred on October 31, 2023. Director Rogowski reported that Child #1 (C1) was left unattended in the outside play area for “at least ten minutes”. It was reported that a parent notified staff of the child outside and staff immediately brought the child into a classroom. Parent of C1 was immediately notified of the incident. C1’s teacher was immediately let go from the facility. It was reported that C1 was hiding behind a play kitchen and that is why the child was not seen when the children were brought back into the classroom. Director Rogowski has since removed all play kitchens from the outside play area and Director Rogowski also trained staff on the facility’s policies for transitioning from inside to outside and back into the classrooms as well as having an updated list of the students present. Director Rogowski also implemented a new procedure for designated staff to complete another visual sweep of the outside play area after the children have lined up to go inside as an extra precaution.
