101229(a)(1) · 101229- Responsibility for Providing Care and Supervision: (a) The licensee shall provide care and supervision as necessary to meet the children's needs. (1) No child(ren) shall be left without the supervision of a teacher at any time, except as specified in Sections 101216.2(e)(1) and 101230(c)(1). Supervision shall include visual observation.
Per Site Director, she has provided training to all staff in regards to the responsibility for providing care and supervision to ensure staff use active supervision strategies and follow Title 22 Regulations. LPAs interview disclosure confirmed by staff that incident took place where child #1 was injured while in care. Staff providing care and supervision were looking elsewhere and did not observe child #1 when child #1 was injured. This poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care. Director will submit the training agenda, materials and staff sign in attendance for the training conducted to CCLD via email to LPA Garcia by or before 12/31/2021 in order to clear this citation.

Per Director, she has provided training to all staff in regards to personal rights and has demonstrate CCLD personal rights video ( https://ccld.childcarevideos.org/child-care-center-operators/childrens-personal-rights-in-child-care/ ) to ensure staff follow Title 22 Regulations. Based on interview disclosure with Director reveal child #1 was given a popsicle that was placed in child’s injury. In addition, Interview with day care staff #2 revealed that staff overlooked area and did not clean child #1’s chin thoroughly after lunch which resulted in child #1 skin irritated from spaghetti sauce left on child. This poses a potential risk to the health and safety of children in care. In addition, Director has added cold compress packs to classrooms which were observed by LPA Garcia to be stored readily and available in classroom refrigerators. Director will submit the training agenda, materials and staff sign in attendance for the training conducted to CCLD via email to LPA Garcia by or before 12/31/21 in order to clear this citation.

Based on interviews conducted with day care staff reveal that an incident occurred at the facility where child #1 was injured and staff did not contact parent to report child’s injury. Director will then submit the training agenda, materials, staff sign in attendance for the training, and certificate of completion to CCLD via email to LPA Garcia by or before 12/31/21 in order to clear this citation.
